Hello, Boston!

I'm in Boston. Well, technically, I'm in Cambridge. You can see where I am at any point in time at http://tinyurl.com/6nphzj thanks to amateur radio and GPS. I'm currently at a Cosi, a cafe here by Kendall Station, on the edge of the MIT campus.

Today was a long day. It started off with a late start getting a hair cut at SuperCuts, then trying to find a rail into Boston. Even though I'm staying at my brother's friend's house less than a mile from Lincoln Labs, where there is a bus stop, the only thing we were sure about is a rail station he has seen off highway 2. We end up going quite a bit west to South Acton, drove right by the train station, and that was a fiasco in and of itself. We eventually get to the right place, just in time for the train to arrive. Luckily, the train is going straight to Boston w/o stops, and there was no charge for the ride!

I get to North Station, travel the subways and do my business looking for work. This town is awesome for public transportation. If I lived here, I would probably not keep a car. Oh, what an experience!

Finally, I headed north on the red line to the Kendall stop. I got up, got my APRS locator going again, and just started walking. MIT is an amazing site!

The sad thing is it's a bit depressing. On one hand, it's somewhat inspiring to see all the sights of the campus; to be here. But at the same time I feel small and unaccomplished. Luckily, this is a short trip and I don't have much time to dwell.

After I log out here, I'm traversing the T back to my couch by Lincoln Labs, then it's off to the airport at 4 AM or so to fly back to KC.

My personal web pages

I have a home.

After all these years, most of which have been filled with instability, I have a homepage of my own now. Not any of this MySpace or Facebook shit - an actual empty directory space where I create my own HTML from scratch and put in original content. (Well, mostly original.) Here I'll be putting all sorts of stuff, most of it somewhat technical in nature. It will range from computer shit to electronics, radio to automotive. Don't expect it to be updated often - I am vastly unartistic! Do expect it to have interesting stuff, if you find random technical stuff interesting. I'll keep most of my writing related to items there in this blog. Enjoy!

BTW, I take requests.
